Ronaldsway's
runway 26/08 has been extended and widened from its original size.
Constructed for the Royal Navy in 1944 as Runway 27/09 at 1,400 yards long
and 30 yards wide, post WW2 it was first widened in the late 1950s to 50
yards and subsequently extended twice.
